History

In early 1960's, the Ragdolls were created by Ann Baker in Riverside, Calfornia. The foundation of cat was a white, longhaired, and somewhat like an angora type called Josephine. That belongs to a neighbor, Mrs. Pennels. Josephine was half feral, and she often produced the kittens. When Josephine hit by a car, and Ann's neighbor rescued her. Then they nursed her back to health staying indoor. At that time, Josephine was somewhat became a tamer. Her personality was the opposite. When she had her babies in the house, Ann was the first one who noticed something special about them. She came up with an idea to call them, The Ragdoll Cats. The name of Ragdoll is truly deserved since they are easily trusting, go limp and relax their muscles when picked up. They are very affectionate, loving, intelligent, and somewhat like human shadow following you around. Because of their highly trusting nature, and unable to protect themselves, they are expected to stay indoor all times.

Pointed

Mink, sepia, and solid color are NOT RARE of the Ragdoll breed. If some breeders say it, it is very wrong and harmful for our today's established Ragdolls. Please do not support this in your kitten purchase. Please support only "blue eyed pointed" Ragdolls. Denny Dayton was one of the first developer of our beautiful blue eyed pointed Ragdolls. He was at the Congress in Denver, Colorado in 2010 and made a speech, "never use these cats in our "blue eyed pointed" Ragdolls.

About Ragdoll

Ragdoll cats are large, laid back, semi longhaired cats with beauty blue eyes. The Ragdoll is a pointed breed, which means that the body is lighter in color than the points (color on face, ears, legs and tail). It has 3 patterns, 2 with white (mitted and bicolor) and one with no white (colorpoint). Ragdoll is well balanced cat with sweet temperament. Ragdolls are slow maturing, reach their full size and weight at 4 yrs old. The color coat reaches full at 2 yrs old.

Ragdoll cats tend to be interested and want to be close to humans. They are known to run to greet you at the door, follow you, watch to see what you are doing, flop on you, sleep with you, and choose to be where you are. Many Ragdolls have taught to come when called and play fetch. They are gentle cats. Their coat is minimal grooming. They should be combed with a steel comb on a regular basis to find and remove any loose hair or tangles. Usually once a week is satisfactory.

Ragdolls are like all breed of cats, will shed, usually with the change of seasons. The undercoat (double coat) develop during cold climates. They shed when the climate is warmer. Humans shed hair, too. Add the supplement in food/ eat high quality food helps less shedding. Ragdolls are well behaved and easy to care for, even busy and purrfect for our modern lifestyles. We, the breeders usually make available kittens between 12-14 weeks of age. After 12 weeks, kittens develop physical, and social stability needed for a new home, showing or being transported by air.

Policy Information

The pet quality kittens will be spayed/ neutered when they are about 11 weeks old. It usually takes 7 days for healing. The kittens will be ready for new homes at least 12-14 weeks old. Each kitten will have an exam, vaccination, and wormer. All my kittens/ cats come with a 2 year health guarantee.

I guarantee that the kitten/ cat is free of Fel, FIV, genetic or hereditary defect. If the kitten/ cat should die of a genetic/ hereditary defect within 2 years of purchase, I will replace the kitten/ cat with another kitten/cat (same quality) after receiving proof of the defect in the form of a licensed vet's autopsy report.

Payment of deposit constitutes acceptance of Rose Cottage Ragdolls adoption policy. A deposit is required to hold a particular kitten/ cat for you. This is done on a first come, first served basis. For pet quality kittens, the deposit is 250.00. Show alter quality, the deposit is 400.00. For show/breeder quality kittens, the deposit is 600.00.  Zelle, personal check, cash or Paypal (add 3.8% to cover their service fee) is the only acceptable method of payment for the DEPOSIT. Only CASH or CASHIER CHECK is acceptable at the time of picking up locally. NO personal check is accepted for picking up. Zelle or Paypal (add 3.8% to cover their service fee) is accepted from out of state. Once the deposit is received, it is not refundable.  After the deposit is received, I will send you an update picture every 2 weeks while the kittens are growing. I raise my precious babies from birth and make sure all my kittens/ cats are much loved, well socialized, and playful. I love spending time with them as much as I can! They are the love of my life. Ragdoll cats are highly intelligent, like to keep clean and love to be with you. Females like to follow you, want to be near and sit by you. They also like to watch what you are doing. Males are cuddlier. Since we want the best health of our babies, it is recommended not to visit until they receive their first shot at 9-10 weeks old. It takes 10 days for the shots to become effective for full protection. As always, we are more than glad to email you an update of photos every 2 wks. (anytime during that 2nd week) Visitors are welcome after first shot setting by an appointment. UPDATE NOTE (6/8/20): Because of the coronavirus pandemic, no visitors are allowed in the house. We could meet and pick up the kittens/ cats outdoors by appointment.

UPDATE NOTE (10/3/22): Although the pandemic is now over, we have seen some people still having covids today.

No declawing for any reason. Trim nails regularly as advised. Nails grow faster during warm weather. Please provide at least 36" scratch post  or taller. Cats love to climb tall furniture and sleep on the round bed.

All my kittens/ cats are kept indoor at ALL times. They are gentle and can't protect themselves. They need to be shielded from danger and free of diseases.

No rabies shot is given before the age of 6-8 mos old. Expect only under special circumstances. One shot is given at a time to prevent stress in the kitten/ cat.

It is NOT advised to give the FIP or the FeLV vaccination to kittens/ cats. If your vet wants to test for FeLV, it is fine, but an indoor cat only does NOT need the vacinnation EVER.

I encourage feeding kitten/ cat premium high quality food. It satisfied the cats' needs for best health.

UPDATE (7/25/22): The pet quality price includes examination, spay/ neuter, and 2 sets of vaccinations. All my kittens come with registered blue papers. If you decide to fly here from overseas to pick up the show breeder quality kitten at the airport, this kitten will need a rabies shot, and international health certificate paperwork and may not leave until 4-5 months old. I ship my kittens if you contact the Nanny/ Courier to set a date and time in advance to pick up your kitten when it is ready for a new home. I recommend preparing to fly the kitten in ADVANCE, not at the last minute. If you make a last minute decision to ship the kitten, I don't guarantee shipping the kitten as soon as it is ready for a new home. Will charge $100 extra fee for last minute shipping plan. Drop off kittens at the airport is a separate fee. No rabies shot is required for air transportation in the USA only.

Our home is for breeding, birthing, and raising kittens only. Not for boarding the kittens. If you could not pick up the kitten when it is ready for a new home at 12 to 14 wks old, the cost will be $12.00 a day for feeding and pet sitting until you or the kitten can be picked up. Only limit time. Please prepare to pick up in advance to avoid extra fees and conflict with our plans too.

I breed the parents that are DNA tested negative for both Ragdoll and Maine Coon HCM and tested negative for FeLV, FIV too. There are no PG lines with the parents I breed today.

We reserve the right to refuse the sale of any kitten/ cat for any reason, at any time. If we receive the deposit, and refuse the sale of any kitten/cat for any reason, it will return to the pet purchaser. If the customer picks the particular kitten/ cat and changes its mind not wanting it after sending the deposit, the deposit is non refundable but it can go toward the next kitten available if the customer still wants a future kitten.
