Ragdoll Cats - History
In early 1960's, the Ragdolls were created by Ann
Baker in
Riverside, California. The foundation of cat was a white, long haired,
and
somewhat like angora type called Josephine. That belongs to a neighbor,
Mrs.
Pennels. Josephine was a half feral, and she often produced the
kittens. When
Josephine hit by a car, and Ann's neighbor rescued her. Then they
nursed her
back to health staying indoor. At that time, Josephine was somewhat
became a
tamer. Her personality was the opposite. When she had her babies in the
house,
Ann was the first one who noticed something special about them. She
came up
with an idea to call them, the Ragdoll cats. The name of Ragdoll is
truly
deserved since they are easily trusting, go limp, and relax their
muscles when
picked up. They are very affectionate, loving, intelligent, and some
what like
human shadows following you around.
Because
of their highly trusting nature, and are unable to
protect themselves, they are expected to stay indoor all times.
Policy/Information:
The pet quality kittens will be spayed/neutered when they are about 11 weeks old. It takes 7-10 days for healing. The kittens will be ready for new homes when they are about 12-13 weeks old. Each kitten will have an exam, vaccination and wormer. All my kittens/cats come with a 2-year health guarantee.
I guarantee that the kitten/cat is free of Fel, FIV, genetic or hereditary defect. If the kitten/cat should die of a genetic/hereditary defect within two years of purchase, I will replace the kitten/cat with another kitten/cat after receiving proof of the defect in the form of a licensed Vet's report.
A deposit is required to hold a particular kitten/cat for you. This is done on a first-come, first-served basis. For pet quality kittens, the amount of deposit is: $100.00. For show quality/ breeder quality kittens, the deposit is: $200.00. Once the deposit is received, it is not refundable. I raise my precious babies from birth. I make every effort to match each kitten/cat with the right family. Some prefer a kitten/cat that is quiet and floppy while others want pets that are playful and make noises. I make sure all my kittens/cats are much-loved, well-socialized, and playful. Ragdoll cats are highly intelligent and like to keep clean. Females like to follow you, want to be near and sit by you and like to watch what you are doing. Males are cuddlier.
All my kittens/cats receive their first vaccination when they are 8-10 weeks old.
No declawing for any reason. Nails are trimmed regularly as advised. Nails grow faster during warm weather. Recommend that you provide a 36" scratch post.
Ragdoll cats are semi long-haired. They do shed but less than the long-haired cats do. Humans shed hair, too. Giving the kittens/cats vitamin supplements daily helps reduce the shedding of hair.
All of my kittens/cats are kept indoors at all times. They can be taken for a walk outdoors with a harness and leash. They are gentle and can't protect themselves. They need to be shielded from danger.
No rabies shot is given before the age of 6 months. One shot is given at a time to prevent stress in the kitten/cat.
It is not advised to give the FIP or the FeLV vaccination to kittens/cats. If your Vet wants to test for FELV, it is fine, but an indoor cat only does not need the vaccination.
I encourage feeding the kitten/cat premium quality food. Give canned food once a day, the higher protein the better.
Today's price for a pet quality kitten/cat is: $650.00. It includes the spaying/neutering cost, exam, vaccination, and wormer. A show quality altered kitten is: $850.00. If interested a breeder quality kitten, ask me about the price. It depends on how good the markings are.
Please email me at any time if you have any questions. I will answer as soon as I can!
